Turkey Day

Thanksgiving is one of my absolute favorite holidays. I love the food and the joy that the people I am surrounded by bring me! This year I decided to go for a very classy look. I wore a deep green skirt from J. Crew and a white collared shirt under a brown staple sweater. I paired the look with my favorite KJP pearls and Burberry Headband! My favorite part of my Thanksgiving attire was most definitely my festive shoes from Jack Rodgers! They were quite the hoot.

Shop the Shoes (similar, the Turkeys were a Thanksgiving exclusive!)

Hope that everyone has a fabulous holiday season!

Barcelona, Spain

Last weekend I had visited the beautiful Spanish city of Barcelona to visit my sister who is studying there. I had an amazing time seeing immaculate buildings, eating delicious foods, and shopping in American stores (Spain needs to rethink their sense of style...ha ha.)

Day 1:  Exploring the backstreets and an amazing "mercat" called St. Josep La Boqueria.

Day 2: Pictured in front of the absolutely gorgeous Fonta Magica Mont Juic.

Day 3: Spent hitting the "must sees"- Park Guell and La Sagrada Familia, the most interesting building I'll probably ever be in the presence of again. You could sit in or outside of it and just look at it for hours. Between sights we stopped for a delicious Nutella Crepe (more French than Spanish... but how could you resist...ha).

And thats a wrap up of the weekend!
Also I am so excited to reveal Navy Knot Blue 's new look! Thank you so much for reading! Until next time...

How it began...

I recently decided to create a blog of my own (finally) to share my love of quality fashion and decor. For those who don't know me or hardly know me I decided to begin my blog with a post about who I am. My name is Anne Culbertson, most people call me by my nickname since birth "Annie".  I was raised in a family of six that included my mother and father, whom I give credit to for everything I know, and my three big sisters. Lets not forget my brother and my childhood best friend who recently passed, Tucket, an 85 pound (usually wet and sandy) golden retriever. In the Culbertson household we were taught family and Jesus Christ are the most important things in the world. We were (and still are) held to very high standards of morals and class.
My Sisters and I- in front of the White Elephant circa 2005

Two of my sisters and I still repping the Lilly- 2014
I am extremely blessed to have been able to have spent every summer of my life on the beautiful island of Nantucket, my favorite place in the world. Nantucket is soaked in fashion and old-world style that I am completely and totally in love with. The island has definitely played a role in my taste in clothing. Over the years I have looked up to my mother for her classic sense of style. I have been wearing Lilly since I was practically in her womb. My sisters and I were very well dressed children to say the least. Lilly still consumes a large portion of my wardrobe. Some of my other favorite designers/stores include J. Crew, Kate Spade, Vineyard Vines, Jack Wills, Anthropology, and small brand names you can only find online or at my favorite little boutiques.

Speaking of favorites I might as well just drop a list- I am completely and totally in love with floral gardens (especially ones with hydrangeas and roses!), my favorite food has to be macarons because well A. the are just the cutest things ever and you can actually "eat them up" and B. because they are simply delicious!, my favorite thing to do is be near (or in) a body of water - I grew up on my dads boats and joined my high schools rowing team this past year, my favorite animal is an elephant, always has been, but that is only because I don't count golden retrievers as animals! Last but not least my favorite quote, which is printed above my desk, comes from my ultimate role model: "For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone." -Audrey Hepburn.

To wrap things up I will be using navy knot blue to begin pursuing the thing that I love and I am super excited about it. You can follow my instagram and Twitter (linked on the words) to get updates and view more pictures.

Falling for Fall

I have been pushing this post off for a while because although summer is long gone, autumn still doesn't seem to be here quite yet! I am so ready for pumpkins (and pumpkin spice lattes!!), corn maizes, scarves, and boots! But they just don't fit in 80-90 degree weather! However today seemed fitting to share my favorites of this season because it is finally the official first day of fall. Click the name of the item to shop!

 Sweaters, Sweaters, Sweaters

The Tippi Sweater by J. Crew is a very suitable option for this time of year as it is very light but it can also be layered with a collared shirt underneath or a vest overtop! It comes in an insane amount of colors, neutrals and bright pops to add some diversity to your wardrobe! I own it in navy- of course and have a similar piece from C. Wonder in a color similar to "hthr saddle". And as I am writing this I saw they're 25% off so I will probably be purchasing some more! Definitely a staple for fall!

Blanket Scarves

This season blanket scarves are all the rave. They are warm, cozy, and absolutely adorable. What more could you ask for? Some of my favorites are linked below...

Watch Plaid by Bourbon and Boots - the watch plaid is my personal favorite because it is such a classic print but I also do like the other prints as well!

Oversized Orange and Blues by ASOS - most likely this would be better for towards the end of fall and into the winter when the temperatures drop.

Aerie Blanket Scarf In Deep Plum  - I particularly like this option because it includes very fall colors.

Outerwear

Excursion Quilted Down Vest by J.Crew - this piece is perfect for layering over sweaters. Comes in 7 beautiful fall colors.

Barbour - a classic coat that can be worn from the end of Autumn all the way through winter.

The Downtown Field Jacket by J.Crew -  I own this jacket  (and ironically so does Meredith Grey one of my favorite characters from TV) and absolutely love it!

Sperrys to Boots

Early fall is literally meant for pants and Sperrys. So many cute options to match to your particular outfit. My personal favorite are the traditional boat shoes

When temperatures begin to plummet out come the riding boots and when its raining... the hunters! Linked below are my favs....

Tori Burch Derby Riding Boots - so adorable, but so expensive. Ha. A girl can dream.

Sperry Cedar Boot - a more practical option. I purchased them on Rue La La for a even more reduced price!

Bean Boots by L.L. Bean  - especially favored in Navy. They're backordered so I am hoping to get a pair by Christmas!

Hunter Original Woman's Tall in Hunter Green - for those rainy fall days!

Thanks for reading! May your Autumn season be filled with many Pumpkin Spice Lattes and pretty leaves!

I'm a (Seer) Sucker for Lilly

This morning I woke up to have discovered a box on my door step. I can't tell you how excited I have been for this day. I finally received my items I'd purchased from the Lilly Pulitzer After Party sale that took place on August 17th and 18th. I usually don't shop from this sale because I tend to get my fill of Lilly at the Midnight Madness sale (in Nantucket). However I only have positive things to say about my first experience with the After Party sale. It was very organized and the system (wait in a virtual line, items in your bag aren't on hold etc.) was very well explained before hand. Anyway lets get to what I had purchased!

 "Angela Strapless Dress"
Original Price: $228
Sale Price: $49

This dress was definitely the best steal out of all of them! Even though Fall is so close I will be able to wear this probably at least once before summer is over and all of next summer (and hopefully on a vacation in between!)

"Anna Maria Button Down Shirt"
Original Price: $98
Sale Price: $29

I'll be able to wear this top through the fall. Its perfect for right now- you know the awkward time when you don't know if you should be wearing a sundress with sandals or jeans with riding boots- because it is both "summery" yet "fallish".

"Tate Lace Detail Skirt"
Original Price: $98
Sale Price: $49
"Pearl Shift Dress"
Original Price: $198
Sale Price: $99
I'm in love with this print! I have it in a pair of linen pants as well! Adorable.

"Fisher Bikini Top"
"Fisher Bikini Bottom"
Original Price: between $50-$70 (I was so excited to try this on I got rid of the tags too quickly!)
Sale Price: $29 each

I am in love with everything about this suit! The print and the style!

"Captiva Tunic Coverup"
Original Price: $118
Sale Price: $39

Super cute! I love the subtle print for a nice relaxing day at the pool or beach!
"5 in. Callahan Shorts"
Original Price: $64
Sale Price: $44

I'm really happy about these shorts because I can wear them to school because they follow our dress code. Although they won't be any good to me in a few weeks I can wear them in the Spring!

"Printed Large Pick Me Up Pouch"
Original Price: $32
Sale Price: $14

Okay... It was $14... how couldn't I? It is pretty large so I will be using it for cosmetics most likely!

Although most of these are very summery I don't think it was silly to buy any of these because I know I will wear them next year, the prices were amazing, and the quality of anything made by Lilly is amazing! They will hold up for a while!

Lastly- I did the math. I saved $576- more than I even spent! So I would say that it was very successful and I recommend it for next summer to anyone who loves Lilly!

We like to fine dine MOOR often than KNOT

A few weeks ago my family went to Brant Point Grill, which is the restaurant inside of the White Elephant on Nantucket. We try to go there at least one or two times every summer because you can get a filet mignon like non other there AND because the view of the harbor is spectacular. On this family outing I sported a few of my favorite purchases this summer.

I bought my dress in May at the Stotesbury Cup Regatta. My boat did not do too well but the Jack Wills stand definitely cheered me up afterword! I love this dress so much because it is so simple, yet beautiful. The fabric is printed with sail boats and other nautical scenes so it has been perfect for Nantucket.

My shawl / wrap (only in first two pictures) is very lightly printed with ropes and anchors. It is actually my mothers (guilty as charged!) but how could I not wear it with this dress?! She purchased this item last summer at the Midnight Madness sale here on Nantucket. Because this was from a few seasons ago and most likely only at In the Pink Stores I have something similar (and for a much cheaper price!!) linked here.

My shoes are my platinum Jack Rodger's (the Hampton sandal) . A classic, timeless shoe that goes with practically anything you want them to.

My purse (I apologize- only in the first picture) is a navy and cream cross body. The navy bow caught my eye in TJ Maxx this spring and I couldn't resist. It is made by Kate Spade New York. Unfortunately, because I found this gem in TJ Maxx it must have been one of the last ones so I did my best to find a similar Kate Spade handbag (linked here).

Now about my arm candy (look at the last picture for up close detail) - each of these bracelets are from  KJP which has been my latest obsession this summer. Truthfully I could love anything with an anchor on it! Also- I had to buy the Nautical Safari Bracelet because it looks just like my favorite car of my dads!
